Mail from the (Velvet) Cybercrime Underground
Over the past six months, “fans” of this Web site and its author have shown their affection in some curious ways. One called in a phony hostage situation that resulted in a dozen heavily armed police surrounding my home. Another opened a $20,000 new line of credit in my name. Others sent more than $1,000 in bogus PayPal donations from hacked accounts. Still more admirers paid my cable bill for the next three years using stolen credit cards. Malware authors have even used my name and likeness to peddle their wares.

Yeah read that last night.
Terrorist tactics.

Holy shit. I found a new crime forum. Anyway, props to that author for the detective work and great story.

What is this I don't even?
Apparently, some people (alleged Russian Mafia) are sending drugs to this guy's house and calling the cops on him. They are using Silk Road to do it -which is bad for legitimate users of SR.
-
Don't run afoul of the Russian mafia seems like a good idea personally. Who is this dude and why is he so special? And I think I'm joining that shady forum and will befriend some sketchy Russians. I like meeting new people.

Krebs reports on security/cyber crime and some of the Russians have quite a disliking for how he exposes some of the things they are up to (articles often contain private messages between them/personal details). Check out his previous articles, it will explain it more. Worth reading if you are into IT security.

This could be a very elaborate trick. If he set all this up, notified the cops, then open the package, took half of it, and let the cops take the rest, thinking it was the whole package.
I'm not saying that's what happened at all, but someone could play this trick.

There is already a thread about this. http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/index.php?topic=193278
